The National Board of Wide Front determined not to go to joint primaries with the parties of the former New Majority, as proposed by the latter.

Through a statement, the FA announced that “we have been promoters of the primaries as a democratic mechanism for defining candidacies within the framework of a unitary political project, therefore, we discard the proposal of a single national pact for primaries that ignores our differences with the conservative and neoliberal sectors of the country present, as has been reaffirmed in recent days, in sectors of the former New Majority “.

“The social and political majority that we need is not exhausted in the primaries and, therefore, we reiterate that We will continue to push and talk about coordination and competition between all opposition sectors that allow progress in transforming and deepening projects of democracy, incompatible with the right and conservative sectors of our country, always putting citizen demands and the transformations that Chileans demand of us at the center “

Thus, added the bloc, “the Broad Front continues to work with the parties of Unity for Change Y Progressive Convergence to advance mechanisms of territorial coordination via mutual omissions that allow, on the one hand, to recognize our legitimate differences and, on the other, to join forces to offer competitive citizen alternatives to Chile. We go according to each territorial reality “.

The FA also declared “available to be omitted where other parties or movements have better alternatives that ours for the citizenship and will not last in competing against all the candidates that, regardless of their coalition, have perpetuated corruption, patronage or represent projects far from the necessary transformations that allow our neighbors to live in peace and recover the institutions. that, in many cases, they have stopped being at the service of the people “.

The Secretary General of the Democratic Revolution, Leonardo Rissettisaid that from the block it is understood that “There is a need for Chile not to continue governing Let’s go, because the Government of Piñera has made the country terrible and that the entire spectrum of the opposition must be coordinated for that to happen. We have been working for months and we will continue to do so with generosity. However, we understand that today there are no conditions for a primary of the entire opposition in mayors and regional governments because there are no ideas on the table and we do not know the willingness of the parties to answer some uncomfortable questions such as, for example, what are we going to do with corruption in the municipalities of Chile and if we are really available to do things differently from how they have been done in the last 30 years. ”

A statement that did not find a good reception in the deputy Pablo Vidal, a co-religionist of Pérez and Rissetti.

“As a Deputy of the Broad Front I do not share this statement. What is at stake in the coming months is not the identity of our parties, it is the future of Chile. People demand Unity from us, which is built with citizen participation, not with closed-door negotiations “, expressed the parliamentarian.

A similar position was expressed by the also militant RD and deputy, Natalia Castillo, who assured that “a profound mistake is being made,” although he said he respected the decision taken by the FA table.
