The first vice president of the Party for Democracy (PPD), Francisco Vidal, announced that he will launch his pre-candidacy for the presidential primary of his community, after the Plebiscite, which has been informing some militants this day.
The former minister explained to Radio Bío Bío that one of the motivations he had was the complex moment of the Constituent Unit, formed by the former Concertación, due to the lack of a leadership that is heading in the race towards La Moneda, unlike the Communist Party and the Broad Front where they sound strong Daniel Jadue and Beatriz Sánchez respectively.
Thus, the former minister could compete with the president of the community, Heraldo Muñoz, who says, was the first to whom he warned.
“Oh no. If he (Heraldo) was the first to be notified ”, highlighted the now candidate with the effusiveness that characterizes him.
“We talk… it will be a democratic, open, transparent competition, without any disqualification. Not a syllable will come out of my mouth against Heraldo Muñoz that he has done very well, in addition, as president of the PPD ”, remarked the former government spokesman.
For Vidal, going to the primary of his party is similar to the path that the Chilean National Team has to reach Qatar 2022.
“It’s the equivalent of the World Cup Qualifiers … that is, here you entered the first round, because there has to be only one PPD candidateHe raised.
“So I’m like Chile-Uruguay…. without my game being stolen obviously“Said the panelist of the morning Welcome with a laugh.
Regarding that, and bringing out his qualities as a teacher, he explained that “that PPD candidate goes to a second round, which is the primary with the candidates of the Constituent Unit, that candidate goes to a third round which is the primary -I hope with Jadue and Beatriz Sánchez- and that candidate goes to a fourth round which is the first presidential round ”.
“And this whole world that is the center-left, what is called Constituent Unit has nothing, then we will see po ‘, if it turns out well, but, well too“, Declared the president.
Regarding the incentives to decide to be a presidential candidate, the former defense minister confessed that what motivated him the most is that “This is the most difficult moment for the PPD and the Constituent Unit, because we have no candidate”.
Meanwhile, regarding an eventual first round facing the mayor of Las Condes, Joaquín Lavín, -who has been Vidal’s television duo- indicated that he respects him, although he questioned his conversion to a social democrat.
“No, if I have always said that I have a lot of respect for him … but Lavín, even if he dresses in UDI silk, is well,” said the candidate.
