After Mattig’s death, the lawyer representing the inmates of the prison, Raúl Meza, pointed out that the ex-uniformed man “is the first inmate from Punta Peuco to die in freedom due to the granting of the presidential pardon, however, during this government , 27 inmates who are serving a sentence for human rights reasons have been denied pardon by Pdte Piñera ”.

According to the lawyer, the situation “confirms the need for this government to give extreme urgency to the processing of the humanitarian law that is currently being processed in Parliament.”
