The former Republican president George W. Bush, whose electoral victory in 2000 was decided by the Supreme Court of Justice, telephoned the Democrat this Sunday Joe biden to congratulate him on his victory in “fundamentally honest” elections with a “clear” result.
“Despite our political differences, I know that Joe Biden is a good man who won the opportunity to lead and unify our country,” Bush, who served in the White House between 2001 and 2009, said in a statement.
In his victory speech in Wilmington, Delaware, on Saturday night, “the president-elect reiterated that he was the Democratic candidate but that he will rule the country for all Americans,” added Bush, who thanked Biden for his “patriotic message.”
At times when the outgoing president Donald trump refusing to concede victory to Biden citing irregularities, Bush highlighted the record turnout in the election, something he considered a symptom of the good “health of democracy” of United States.
