The National Emergency Office (Onemi) declared Red Alert for the commune of San Antonio, after a forest fire hit at least two homes.

The incident – called “La Virgen” – consumed at least one hectare of grassland and scrubland until this Friday afternoon, in addition to the properties indicated in the town of El Faro.

Both houses suffered damages “to be assessed”, as detailed by Onemi.

A technician, four brigades, four planes and a helicopter from Conaf work at the site; San Antonio Firefighters; Carabineros; communal manager of Emergencies and Civil Protection, with the support of three tank trucks; and personnel from the Chilquinta electricity company.
