Cycling team director banned for photos in underwear: “Industry is conservative”
by Alejandro Mora Velásquez
Gin Tara, a former professional cyclist, had everything agreed to take over a men’s under-23 cycling team. It was only a matter of time for the Belgian athlete to assume the leadership, however, everything was cut short when they met a photo session that Tara had starred in for Playboy adult magazine.
The reason for the club was that it considered “inappropriate” the photographs where the cyclist appeared in underwear for a calendar.
The news did not take long to go viral in the world of sports and the cyclist comments that she has received many messages of support for having suffered what she considers a macho measure.
“I have seen many male athletes and also cyclists pose naked or in their underwear for advertising. Although some male images are clearly sexual, people seem not to feel offended by them, “said Tara in Marca, in addition to treating the club “old-fashioned” and the cycling industry as “Conservative”.
Despite having suffered the loss of her job, this talented former athlete points out on her Instagram account that she does not regret having “stayed true to myself and decided to open up.” Ending with a motivating message: “Cycling is my passion and it will always be my passion. Sometimes we need to take a step back to take a bigger leap at the end “.
