For the second time in less than three days the statue of General Manuel Baquedano was restored, which gives its name to the square located in the sector of the intersection of Alameda with Vicuña Mackenna.

It should be remembered that during the demonstrations for the first anniversary of the social outbreak of October 18 last year, Protesters painted the monument in honor of the soldier red.

In addition, interventions were carried out on the same statue, as well as the base was scratched with slogans against the government of Sebastián Piñera.

And a day before, the statue also had to be restored because on Friday afternoon it had also been painted red and a wreath had been left as a protest against the repression during these months.

That same Friday night, the Army condemned the incident and raised the idea of moving the monument to a site where the institution can have it under control.
