Sky announced that it will reactivate its operations from June 1, thus beginning the first stage of its “Fly Safe” plan, which consists of progressively resuming all of its flights in the medium term. The itinerary will be limited and there will be different flexibility policies for passengers

To do this, the company implemented a demanding security protocol in the aircraft cabin and at the airport, in addition to the recommendations of health authorities, both national and international.

One of the main measures it will adopt is the reduction of its capacity on board, temporarily blocking until June 28 all the rows of central seats, to ensure physical distance between passengers. To this is added the daily sanitation of all aircraft cabins, in accordance with the standards established in the “Guide to Sanitation and Disinfection” of the World Health Organization (WHO).

“In addition, from June 1, Sky will only operate with A320neo aircraft, which have HEPA filters, which trap microscopic particles, including the Coronavirus, renewing the air in the entire cabin every three minutes,” explained the CEO of Sky, José Ignacio Dougnac.

Meanwhile, at the airport, the company activated new security measures for boarding and disembarking, ensuring greater space between passengers waiting to board the plane, thus reducing direct contact with SKY staff at the counter and disinfecting suitcases. on the luggage tapes.

“This protocol was designed thinking of the entire journey that the passenger makes from the moment he arrives at the airport until he disembarks at his final destination; therefore, all the security measures adopted aim to avoid as much as possible any risk for our customers and workers, ”said Dougnac.

As for the itinerary established by the airline, it will begin to operate only in Iquique, Calama, Antofagasta, Concepción, Puerto Montt and Balmaceda, with a reduced number of frequencies. While the reactivation of international routes is considered from the third quarter of this year, as far as possible.

“We have defined these six destinations because at the moment they are the ones with the greatest demand and relevance for the country, partly due to the mining sector and economic activity. The objective is not to promote mass tourism travel, but rather to focus on those who today play a relevant role and that we can do in a responsible and conscious way, “said Dougnac.

Along with the protocol, Sky also reinforced its flexibility policy for all passengers who purchase their tickets – regardless of how much they pay for them – who will be able to make destination and date changes up to one hour before the flight and only paying the fare difference, in case that there was.
