Flamengo claimed responsibility for the humiliation suffered last week against Independiente del Valle, by winning this Tuesday by 1-2 to Barcelona from Guayaquil, which was eliminated from the competition, in a controversial match for the fourth date of Group A of the Copa Libertadores.
The duel was embroiled in controversy, due to the contagion from a group of Flamengo players, including the Chilean Mauritius Island, situation whate put the celebration of the engagement at risk.
In fact, during the day it was indicated that the Monumental Stadium of Guayaquil was disabled due to the risks of contagion. However, both local and Conmebol authorities confirmed the security protocols were working and the match was not being canceled.
In terms of football, the visitors, with several casualties, came in with everything and took advantage with goals from Pedro (6 ‘) and the Uruguayan Giorgan de Arrascaeta (26’). The local discount came from Emmanuel Martínez, at the beginning of the second half (48 ‘).
With the result, Flamengo added nine points, with a good footing to reach the next phase, the round of 16. Barcelona, meanwhile, was mathematically eliminated, without units after four dates.
On the following day, to be played next week, Flamengo returns to Maracaná to face Independiente del Valle, in a key duel to define the leadership of the group. Barcelona, meanwhile, will travel to Colombia to visit Junior in Barranquilla.
