Five detainees left the retreat of the monument to General Manuel Baquedano from the square that bears his name in Providencia, one of the most iconic sectors of Santiago.

It was during the night of Thursday that the procedure began, which lasted until the early hours of Friday and was honored by the army.

After 93 years, the statue left the site due to various attacks suffered in the midst of protests, those who in recent days saw fire and also tools to cut it.

In the sector a great police operation was mounted, which ended with five people arrested by the Carabineros, most of them for lesser disorders.

However, there is one accused of attempted homicide against a police officer, after he ran over him with his vehicle.

The individual fled from Investigative Police personnel and the uniformed man tried to collaborate with his arrest, this one block from Plaza Baquedano.

The policeman was transferred to the institutional hospital, where he remains with extremely serious injuries, but out of life risk.
