Eight of the ten companies of the Viña del Mar Fire Department, along with 55 volunteers, extinguished a fire that affected the third floor of a Peruvian food restaurant, located on Valparaíso street, specifically, between Villanelo and Etchevers.
“It is a fairly old construction, within the historic center of Viña del Mar. Apparently – we have to confirm this information – it would have started with the kitchen sector” Commander Gonzalo Román said.
The incident, he added, “did not spread to surrounding places. The historic center of Viña del Mar has very old firebreaks, which are resistant to fire. In that sense, they have worked again ”.

The commander added that, During the emergency, residents of an apartment, which was not affected by the fire, were evacuated preventively and via telescopic ladder.
At the moment no injured persons have been recorded.
