A fire affected more than five homes this Saturday in the Plaza Yungay sector, in the commune of Santiago.
According to preliminary information, the incident began in a large house located at the intersection of Santo Domingo with Rafael Sotomayor, where the old material and also the subdivision were the main triggers for the flames to spread rapidly towards the side houses.
“They are two-story old property that are subdivided, but they are very old constructions, modified over time and with a high fuel load for that reason the magnitude of the fire “, detailed the commander of the Fire Department of Santiago, Gabriel Huerta.
Firefighters personnel worked in the sector to control the fire and prevent it from spreading to more buildings, while the Neighbors helped get as many things out of the affected spaces. The second floor of two large houses was completely destroyed due to fire.
So far there have been no reports of civilians injured by this incident, although two volunteers were injured.
Officials of the Municipality of Santiago are in place to carry out a registry of those affected, which preliminary would be about 75 people -in his maria foreigners-, to be able to render the necessary help.
