Volunteers from several fire companies are working to control a fire that occurs this Thursday afternoon on Ingeniero Budge street in San Joaquín.
According to the information provided by Firefighters, the fire would have started in a warehouse and then spread to homes in the sector.
The incident leaves a column of smoke visible from various points in the capital.
A Radio Bío Bío auditor in the place, reported that, at the moment, there would be at least four houses damaged, including the home of his uncles with total loss.
Later it was confirmed that the affected houses were new, of which four were completely consumed.
Several firefighters from Santiago work at the control and two volunteers have been injured. One due to a fall from a height and the other due to smoke inhalation, detailed the commander of the South Metropolitan Fire Department, Pedro Flores.
Among the difficulties they have had to overcome with those who work in the emergency is the intense presence of smoke and the shortage of water.
The Directorate of Hygiene and Environment of the Municipality of San Joaquín also joined the control of the fire by providing a cistern truck.
