The fire started this Thursday morning at the corner of 1 sur and 7 oriente, in the center of Talca, where there is a gallery of commercial premises called Casa Arroyo, mainly handicrafts and a PreUnic store.
Firefighters managed to control the fire after 07:30 this morning, although the work continued, due to fear of a possible outbreak and / or the fall of the roof structure, which was affected by the accident.
So far no civilians or injured firefighters have been reported, while some 150 volunteers have come to collaborate in the emergency that is in the confinement stage.
The administrator of Casa Arroyo, Marcia Yáñez, said that there were suspicions that the fire was caused intentionally, due to the version of some witnesses.
“They say that when this started a person ran away, Another person who parked his car at the exit from here, who saw that this had started, went back to look for an extinguisher, he also saw a person who ran away (…) in 10 minutes everything was lost, ”explained Yáñez.
In the same vein, the administrator explained that in addition to the stores, there were flea fair merchants who kept or used the premises in emergency due to the pandemic, who would have lost almost all their products.
