A fire affects the premises of the San Borja Arriarán Hospital, in Downtown Santiago.

According to the information, the fire started after 07:00 hours.

Firefighters are working in the emergency, and health officials and patients had to be evacuated.

The fire is concentrated in the northern area of ​​the healthcare facility, on the side of the child emergency and diagnosis center.

The National Emergency Office indicated that it is indicated that the fire affects the fourth floor of the compound, where the boilers are located.

Health personnel deployed in the field report the evacuation internally from floors 5 to 8, from the south wing of the compound to the north wing. While floors 2 and 3 are being evacuated to the security yard.

Preliminarily, the fire had affected much of the third and fourth floors, approaching the pediatric ICU.

Carabineros personnel also arrived at the place, while doctors help to assist those present.

Firefighters units entered the building to attack the flames from the inside, after the fourth fire alarm was declared.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the hospital has patients with covid-19, so Hazmat personnel should arrive at the place due to the presence of cooling material inside the building.

More than 35 units have been summoned for offensive work against the fire that affects the area located at the intersection of Amazonas and Santa Rosa streets.
