A new femicide was registered this morning in the country. The event occurred in the commune of Lamp where a 60-year-old subject with a criminal record hanged his 51-year-old wife with a wire and he fled, being arrested by the Carabineros hours later on the public highway.
The events occurred at 12:45 am this Wednesday in a house on Manuel Montt street, where a cousin of the victim who shares a residence surprised the husband while strangling to the woman with a USB cable in the living room.
The femicide fled, while the relative tried to help the victim, who had already died. Later, around 3 in the morning, police personnel detained the subject on the public highway around the place, while trying to hide his face.
“By preliminary information kept by relatives, in this case for the daughter of the marriage, this person has a history of alcoholism and also criminal, but not due to domestic violence, “said Captain Carlos Hernández, from the Northern Prefecture.
He case was in charge of the Homicide Brigade of the PDI and the detainee will be formalized on Wednesday for femicide.
According to official data from the Ministry of Women and Gender Equity, as of September 7, 2020, in Chile there are 25 completed and 86 frustrated femicides.
