During this Monday it was announced that Falabella closed four stores in Argentina and that the search for a strategic partner for its operations in the trans-Andean country would begin.

Juan M is one of those workers. During Monday’s work they called him and told him that “the branch where you work is going to close. You can make the voluntary withdrawal or wait to be relocated “, according to Clarín.

According to Falabella, the decision was made because the pandemic accelerated the digitization of retail stores, noting that they are in a process of downsizing in the country and that they are evaluating profitability options for the operations of their subsidiaries.

Therefore, they decided to close two Sodimac stores in Argentina and two Falabella. Approximately 100 employees work in each of them.

One of those workers is Juan, who worked in the retail store for 13 years. He thought “this time it was my turn,” and although he didn’t expect it, he did know that it could happen.

“I am not against any decision. It hurts me to lose my job, but I also put myself in the shoes of whoever carries this out. The reality is that it is very difficult to cope with the situation and find someone who wants to invest here “, he pointed.

He added: “I don’t judge them or get angry, I guess that’s understandable. That’s why I say that I would leave the country with them ”.

“There is a lot of uncertainty and I don’t want to sit around waiting for things to arrive. It’s hard because there were really many years as a salesman at Falabella. One creates a bond with the place. It feels like you are losing something that is part of you, “he added.

In that line he mentioned: “I don’t complain because they kept paying me most of my salary. They were very good at this time. But I understand that for them it is unsustainable. I chatted with my colleagues and we still don’t know what to do with the two options they propose. I want to get a job as soon as possible, I don’t want to wait for what will happen ”.
