Ad portas of the commemoration of the International Women’s Day, this Monday, March 8, the Chilean collective Theses, creators of the global anthem against sexist violence “A rapist on your way”, presented his new collaborative performance.
Titled “Resistance or the vindication of a collective right”, the latest creation of the group “it is a way of claiming the right to a life free of violence, in a context of colonization and active extractivism”, as explained by the platform Teatro a Mil Foundation, who is a co-producer with him Valparaíso Cultural Park and the german center HAU Hebbel on the shore.
The intervention seeks to translate some ideas of Judith Butler, Paul B. Preciado and María Lugones, “through a scenic device supported by the bodies and experiences” of its participants, he explained.
The performance was presented today in the capital city of Renca -in the first instance it would be held at the GAM- within the framework of the Santiago a Mil Festival.

Made up of the artists Dafne Valdés, Sibila Sotomayor, Paula Cometa and Lea Cáceres, LasTesis became world famous in November 2019 after performing a choreography against the social myths surrounding rape and impunity within the framework of the social protests that Chile was experiencing then.
“The oppressing State is a male rapist” or “The rapist is you, they are the ‘pacos’ (police), the judges, the State, the president” are some of the verses of the song that thousands of women sang last year with a black blindfold in places as diverse as Mexico, the United States, Spain or Turkey.
Since then, activists have been the speaker of many social injustices in Chile and last year they were chosen by the magazine Time as part of the 100 most influential people in the world.
