Concepción equaled Punta Arenas in the number of active cases of Covid-19 with 398 infected, according to the epidemiological report of this Saturday.

It is the first time that the capital of the Bío Bío region leads this indicator after presenting an increase of 53 active cases in recent days, while that of Magallanes has been in this position for 1 week.

Considering the population of both communes, Punta Arenas continues to lead with an incidence rate of 280.3 while Concepción has one of 167.2.

These are followed by Valdivia with 378 cases, Puerto Montt with 353, Temuco with 332, Chillán with 323, Puente Alto with 272, Los Angeles with 263, Talcahuano with 246 and Iquique with 237.

At the national level, this figure reaches 9,509, while new cases continue to be concentrated in the Metropolitan, Bio Bio and La Araucanía regions. For this reason, the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, called on the population to “stop” the increase in infections.

The Minsal also reveals that in Chile, until December 3, 633,832 cases of COVID-19 have been registered (557,135 with laboratory confirmation and 76,697 probable, without laboratory confirmation), with a rate of 3,257.4 per 100,000 inhabitants from March 3 to date.

In this sense, they clarify that this does not represent the current incidence rate, nor the number of people still in the stage of generating possible infections.

In this way, the highest accumulated incidence rates per 100,000 inhabitants, according to laboratory-confirmed cases, are found in the Magallanes region (9031.6), the Metropolitan region (4249.5) and Tarapacá (4231.8).

Finally, the cases of deaths from covid-19 add up to 20,767 among the confirmed (15,592) and the suspects (5,175).
