The authorities of the Ministry of Health already anticipated it in the balance of this Saturday: the evolution of the pandemic in the south of the country continues to be a focus of concern. The Undersecretary of Public Health, Paula Daza, pointed out this morning that the virus has had an “asynchronous behavior” at the national level and alerted the increase in cases in that area, while his pair of Healthcare Networks, Alberto Dougnac, he reinforced: “We are seeing figures that worry us.”
This was reflected in the 70th Epidemiological Report, published this afternoon. According to the report, the communes of the southern zone continue to lead in active cases, that is, those people who can infect Covid-19.
Thus -after a week of having positioned itself in the first place-, Puerto Montt continues to be the municipality with the most active infections in the country (471). Although, it should be noted, recorded a drop of 18 cases.
It is followed by the capitals of La Araucanía, Magallanes, Los Ríos and Biobío respectively. Temuco recorded 445 positive assets; Punta Arenas, 374; Valdivia, 366; while Concepción had an increase of 68 active cases with respect to the previous report and reached 345.
In fact, Only one of the ten communes that lead this indicator does not belong to the southern part of the country: Puente Alto.
They are currently 28 municipalities in the country that register more than one hundred active infections and four of them are from the Metropolitan Region.
