He Statistics and Information Department (DEIS) of the Ministry of Health this Saturday estimated the number of deceased persons at 17,956, between confirmed and probable cases, by Covid-19 in Chile.
Of the 17,958 deaths, 13,272 of them were confirmed with a positive PCR test Y 4,684 were suspicious deaths from Covid-19.
According to epidemiological report number 58, adding confirmed and probable deaths, the Metropolitan Region maintains the highest accumulated mortality rate per 100,000 inhabitants, of 150.9. They are followed by Antofagasta (98.4) and Magallanes (87.5).
The regions with the lowest rates are Aysén (5.6) and Los Ríos (12.8), followed by Los Lagos (23.6), La Araucanía (28.8) and Atacama (33.4).
The national rate, meanwhile, stands at 92.3, considering confirmed and probable deaths from Covid-19.
According to the DEIS report, until October 8 541,051 cases of coronavirus have accumulated (461,524 with laboratory confirmation and 63,282 probable, without laboratory confirmation).
While, the rate of active cases nationwide is 88.4, and that of the Magallanes Region is still 10 times higher than the national average, with 1,668 active cases, that is, 935.2, followed by Arica (224.9) and Aysén (192.0).
