Epidemiological Report: 18 communes exceed 400 active cases of Covid-19

The Ministry of Health announced this Wednesday its 89th epidemiological report, prepared by the Department of Health Statistics and Information (DEIS), which reports on the situation of the coronavirus crisis in Chile, which exceeded 800,000 cases, between confirmed and probable infections.

In the report (see file), the portfolio detailed that until January 25 there was a total of 18 communes with more than 400 active cases, that is, those carriers of the virus and who are capable of transmitting it, most of them in regions.

The communes that lead the indicator with more than 400 active cases are Antofagasta (1,462), Montt port (1,270), Iquique (843), Valdivia (731), Osorno (664), Temuco (655), Arica (598) and Chillán (548).

The chart also includes Valparaiso (532), Talca (518), Viña del Mar (496), Conception (478), Punta Arenas (476), Curico (461), High Hospice (447) and Quellon (429).

Refering to Metropolitan region, the communes with figures greater than 400 active cases are High Bridge (540) and Santiago (440).

Further back are located Maipú (353), Florida (272), Saint Bernard (245), Pudahuel (230), The Counts (220) and Peñalolén (200).

The epidemiological report estimated 802,807 the total number of infections due to the coronavirus in Chile, 703,178 of them with laboratory confirmation and 99,629 probable.

According to the report, higher cumulative incidence rates per 100,000 inhabitants, according to laboratory-confirmed cases, are found in the regions of Magellan (11,848.9), of Tarapacá (6,310.8) and Arica and Parinacota (5,070).

Of the confirmed and probable reported cases in the Epivigila system, the median age of those infected is 38 years, where 6.77 percent corresponded to children under 15 years of age, 24.85 percent to people 15-29 years old, 29.20 percent to people 30-44 years old, 28.33 percent to people aged 45-64 years, while the remaining 10.85 percent to adults 65 and over.
