Entered by mistake. That was the excuse given by UDI deputies Álvaro Carter and Sandra Amar, regarding a bill entered on September 9 that seeks to prohibit the travel of two people on motorcycles, to avoid crimes known as “motochorros”.
A week later, the project still appeared on the website of the Chamber of Deputies, but during this day it was certified that the motion of Carter and Amar was withdrawn.
In formal terms, on September 10, Carter sent a letter to the Speaker of the House, Diego Paulsen, to request the withdrawal of the motion. “By virtue of the provisions of Article 136 of the Regulation, I have come to process the project ‘Modify Law No. 18,290, on Traffic, to impose new requirements on motorcycles, scooters and moped drivers,” the letter said.
In an interview with T13, Carter assured that everything was a mistake, and that “this project should never have been uploaded”, since it was only a proposal that had not been approved for entry.
“I apologize, because we have been so involved in other things, that it was a mistake to upload the file (the project on the jets). It was a human mistake and we tried to correct it,” said Carter.
The project in question sought to modify aspects of the Traffic Law. “In the last 5 years, we have seen a tendency to occupy these vehicles, as a means for the commission of crimes. It is an imported crime, which is present in countries such as Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Argentina, where it was baptized. as ‘motochorro’, since the word Moto and Chorro (thief) are combined “.
“The proposal seeks, in this same order of things, to make visible the use of this means of transport for the commission of various crimes, such as those previously exposed, in order to generate policies and regulations that facilitate the identification of the offender”, added the document.
Regarding the modification to the Traffic Law 18,290, it was proposed that “in article 79, replace the phrase ‘the companion must be sitting astride’ by ‘the conduit (sic) will be the only user of this means of transport, It is forbidden to drive with a companion. Failure to comply with this obligation will be sanctioned with the suspension of the license for a period of 3 months and with fines of one to eight monthly tax units. In case of repeat offenses, the suspension of the license will be for life “”.
