Enjoy asked the Superintendency of Gambling Casinos (SCJ) to terminate early the operating permits of the municipal casinos of Coquimbo, Viña del Mar, Pucon and Puerto Varas.

The company surprised this week by initiating a process of judicial reorganization to avoid going bankrupt due to the economic problems it faces due to the closure of all its casinos due to the coronavirus, a complex situation that was already dragging down in Chile since the social outbreak period in which also failed to operate.

As published this Sunday The Mercury, Enjoy asked to end early the operation of the municipal casinos of these four cities, which were awarded in 2018 and which would take effect between October of this year and July 2021.

The request was presented on April 17 to the Superintendency where the company adduces fortuitous or force majeure reasons that make it impossible for it to comply with the projects committed to in the tender.

For this, it proposes three alternatives. First of all, if your request is accepted, the permits are reliced.

The second alternative is a extension of current gaming casino licenses, of the terms to start project operations and of the bidding processes that are about to start for a period of five years.

Its third option is for the SCJ to authorize an additional extension of at least three years – in addition to those that have already been granted – for the start of the operations of the four municipal casinos, a period that Enjoy considers to be the “minimum term ” to recover.

In the tender, the company offered the municipalities of Coquimbo, Viña del Mar, Pucón and Puerto Varas fixed annual contributions that, together, amount to some $ 53.4 million, which the company must specify when the licenses come into effect.

El Mercurio details that Enjoy reported guarantee tickets, obtained through banks and that expire in July, for about $ 155 million that it delivered to the SCJ to assure the municipalities of the payment of the first three years of the tender.
