Empresas Sutil complains to the prosecution of an attack on a berry farm and estimates that it affects some 53 hectares

Empresas Sutil, belonging to the president of the Confederation of Production and Commerce (CPC), Juan Sutil, reported that there was an attack on one of Agrícola Sutil’s units. These events were reported to the Parral Regional Prosecutor’s Office and the Maule Agricultural and Livestock Service Regional Directorate, who are investigating the incident.

According to the company, it was an attack on the Santo Domingo Farm located in the Talquita-Parral sector, Seventh Region where, after an investigation, damage caused by possible poisoning of the organic strawberry and blackberry orchards was found, corresponding to a total area of ​​53 hectares.

In an internal communication of the company, Juan Sutil alerted the executives of the different plants about what happened: “I am writing THIS RED ALERT to all the subsidiaries of Empresas Sutil and it is special to Agrícola Sutil and all its subsidiaries and operations throughout of Chile to redouble and increase security protocols in the face of this new attack in the event of a possible new attack or damage in the production chain and processes of our organization ”.

Officially, the company explained that, according to the internal investigation, “the event would have materialized through the introduction of herbicides in the fertilizer dosing drums in the drip irrigation systems, causing damage to the crops. The situation was revealed after the routine inspection of the irrigation booths by the company’s personnel, where the presence of bags of chemical product was detected, whose specificities and origin are being investigated by the pertinent organisms ”.

In the internal message, Sutil said that the damage caused is the loss of the entire organic strawberry and blackberry plantation of the Santo Domingo Fundo Talquita-Parral sector, “the largest organic crop in Chile and whose losses are millionaire.”

And he added that, given the seriousness of this attack, a red alert was issued for the 46 operations of Empresas Sutil, “and especially the productive fields and the fruit processing plants due to the risk of another action of our integrity and operations.”

Faced with this situation, the official communication of the company concludes stating that “beyond this unfortunate fact, from Empresas Sutil we express our pain and indignation in the face of all those acts of violence carried out by irrational minorities that seek to damage and destroy the most precious assets and Fundamentals of Chilean women and men, such as life, freedom, security, work and democracy. No one can remain indifferent to the violence of a few who are causing so much devastation to our country. Recovering social peace is an ethical imperative and an indispensable condition for Chile to be able to grow again, create jobs and provide a better future for all its inhabitants. “

Later, on his Twitter account, businessman Andrónico Luksic regretted and condemned the incident that occurred against Juan Sutil’s company.

“No person, neither a worker nor an employer, neither the greatest nor the one who begins, deserves such an act of violence and cowardice. Frustration and impotence can be seen as we are approaching a sad point of no return that does a lot of damage to all Chileans. This must stop. Chile loses ”, affirmed Luksic.
