Through a heartfelt letter released on his social networks, the actor formerly known as Ellen Page announced that a transgender person and that from now on his name will be Elliot Page.
“I feel fortunate to be able to write this, to be able to be here, at this moment in my life”wrote the protagonist of “The Umbrella Academy”, and thanked the trans community for “their courage, their generosity and their incessant work to make this world a more inclusive and compassionate place.”
“I love that I’m trans. And I love that I’m queer. And the more I stay close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I prosper,” said the Oscar nominee for his work on “Juno” .
Despite the importance of this moment in his life and the happiness he is going through, Elliot Page indicated that “my happiness is real, but it is also fragile”.
“The truth is that, despite feeling deeply happy now and knowing the privilege I have, I am also afraid. I fear invasiveness, hatred, jokes and violence,” he added.
