The Chilean forward Eduardo Vargas had a successful debut this Saturday at the Brasileirao, by providing remarkable assistance in the triumph of Atletico Minero, what took the lead after beating Corinthians 1-2 in Sao Paulo.
The São Paulo team began winning in minute 6 with a goal from Davo, but those from Belo Horizonte equaled the figures at the time of play, with Guilherme Arana’s shot, after an exquisite assist, a high heel, from Vargas.
Finally, in the final stretch, Marrony scored 2-1 for the squad led by Jorge Sampaoli.
Vargas, for his part, was booked in the 89th minute, just before being replaced. After the game, he said he was happy for the good opening and feeling good physically, although he acknowledged that “I must improve more.”
With the result, Atlético Mineiro took the leadership of the Brasileirao, with 38 points, two more than Inter de Porto Alegre, which lost to Santos in the first round of the Saturday session.
On the next date, Vargas and Atlético will return to Belo Horizonte to receive Atlético Paranaense.
