The match between Curicó Unido and Universidad Católica was suspended this Thursday, at the close of the 15th date of the National Championship, due to a power cut in the La Granja Stadium, after the electrical panel of the enclosure burned.

This incident occurred when the second half was being played, with the “torteros” partially winning by 2-0 before the “Crusaders”.

The alert of this situation began just at the start of the second half, since it was visible that smoke was coming out of one of the stadium’s warehouses.

Despite the claims of the crossed banking, the referee Nicolás Gamboa decided to start the complement. However, five minutes later, chaos broke out.

It was the 50th minute, and just when Gamboa was waiting for the VAR to review a penalty against Gastón Lezcano, the lights were cut off, and afterwards the entire stadium.

A few minutes later the firefighters and various technicians arrived to review the situation: the electrical room of the stadium burned down, for unknown causes that will be investigated by the Fire Department.

“Apparently there was a heating in the electrical room of the stadium, which caused fire. The situation is under control, but it is too polluted with smoke and the same dust that we use to control the fire, “explained Evaristo Rojas, Commander of the Curicó Fire Department.

“By ventilating the place, we will see how far the electrical damage in the room reached. We will just check where it started and there it will be determined what could have been,” he added.

This explanation was given to the referee Gamboa, who officially decided the suspension of the commitment.

Gamboa also pointed out that it is up to the ANFP to decide the date for the rescheduling and continuity of this commitment.

As we reported in In the Open Air, it will not continue this Friday, reason why the crossed establishment will return to Santiago.

Curico Unido was dominating before Holan’s experiment at UC

On the sporting level, in the first half Curicó Unido dominated an erratic Catholic University, with an approach from Ariel Holan that did not work, with two forwards, Diego Valencia and Gastón Lezcano, playing as flyers.

Nicolás Larcamón’s team took possession against the crossed midfield, which only had Ignacio Saavedra in his natural position.

Curicó, with two penalties, validated by the VAR after a hand from Fuenzalida and a stomp from Saavedra, he put himself in advantage. The goals were from Pablo Parra (27 ‘) and Federico Castro (40’).

In the second half, Holan made changes, sent Pinares and Parot to correct the disorder and besieged in those first bars, getting a penalty after a foul on Lezcano. However, the power outage ended up suspending the meeting.
