The Government decided to extend —as of September 15— the State of Constitutional Exception for 90 days, according to sources from the Executive confirmed to La Radio.

The measure will be taken due to the current context of the health crisis that has affected the country since March.

According to the information collected, the decision was made because of lowering the State of Exception on September 25 – which was the tentative date that the Executive had given -, the quarantines or curfew could not be renewed.

For the above, only people with positive COVID could have been confined. Therefore – and according to the Government – the reasons are purely health.

Thus, the antecedents detail that conversations were held with mayors, as well as with scientific societies and the Medical College, groups that made the Government see that it was necessary to extend the State of Constitutional Exception for 90 days under the argument that the pandemic still it is not controlled in the country.
