Dr. Sebastián Ugarte was chosen as the “Chilean of 2020” and as “National Hero” | TV and Show

With three winners from regions, and with a record of votes, the third award ceremony ended Chilean of the Year 2020. The Chilean Natida of the Year 2020 award went to the outstanding doctor Sebastian Ugarte, recognized for its educational role and close to the population during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Upon receiving the distinction, Ugarte stated: “Having this recognition is perhaps one of the most beautiful things that can happen ”.

The doctor was also the winner of the category National hero, where he remembered and paid tribute to all the health personnel who have worked tirelessly during this year.

In the third edition of this award, people over 18 years of age nominated outstanding Chileans in different categories (innovative, young, senior, sustainable, of the arts and National Hero) and then a facilitating jury selected the final shortlist. Subsequently, the voting was opened to choose the Chilean of the Year.

In his capacity as winner, Dr. Sebastián Ugarte joins winners of previous editions such as astronomer José Maza and engineer Michel Compagnon. In turn, Dr. Ugarte will represent Natida as an ambassador and will participate in the jury for next year’s awards.

People of various ages who stand out in different fields were recognized in these awards. Here are the winners in each category:

– FINALISTS BY CATEGORIES

Young Chilean: Marina Gaínza-Lein

Valdivia. Internationally awarded doctor and clinical researcher for her studies on childhood epilepsy.

Chilean Senior: Leyla Musalem.

Santiago. Professional tennis player. It was the first national racket during the seventies and eighties, and in 2019, it was number 1 in the world in the senior category.

Chilean Innovator: Diego Stevens.

Chillán. Serial entrepreneur, creator of Meetcard and Cleverit. A technology solutions company for Smart Cities ecosystems and a digital solutions company, respectively.

Sustainable Chilean: Franklin Zepeda.

Iquique. Founder of Ecofibra and Bio Pedic Recycling, where they recycle textile waste to produce insulating panels, and produce prostheses for the Teletón children from plastic bags, respectively.

Chilean of the Arts: David Albala.

Santiago. Journalist and director of the feature film “Pacto de Fuga” which was a box office success, being the most watched Chilean film in the last two years.

National Hero: Sebastián Ugarte.

Santiago. Outstanding national doctor who has become an authorized voice and one of the visible faces after the emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic in Chile.
