The Argentine star Diego Maradona will have to undergo a surgical intervention after being found a subdural hematoma.
The former soccer player was admitted to a hospital in La Plata on Monday, for routine check-ups in the midst of what seemed like a picture of anemia and depression, during which they found said pathology, as reported in the trans-Andean press.
According to the post, the “10” will be operated on as a result of the hematoma found on his head by his GP, Leopoldo Luque, in the next few hours.
“Diego is lucid, he agrees with the intervention, I explained it to him. He is very calm. It is a routine surgery. Most of the patients who have this hematoma are elderly. The panorama did not change. Diego remains the same. He continues with the same clinical condition, with a more specific cause. It was what you asked me and I could not offer you because I had nothing concrete. Subdural hematomas are unnoticeable“said Luque.
“I am going to operate on it with my team at the Olivos Clinic,” in the province of Buenos Aires, said the neurosurgeon, also outside the Ipensa sanatorium, in the city of La Plata.
The CT scan that was performed on Tuesday revealed the diagnosis.
A subdural hematoma can be a medical emergency, according to the Mayo Clinic description, which “is usually caused by a head injury strong enough to burst blood vessels, which can cause pressure on the brain due to accumulated blood. Age, blood thinners, and alcohol abuse can increase risk. “
