Did a new decade begin or not in 2021? The RAE settles the debate

Through its Twitter account, the Royal Spanish Academy referred to the debate that arose on social networks regarding whether or not we were facing the beginning of a new decade.

This, because there are serious doubts as to whether it begins in a year ending in “0” or in one ending in “1”.

Thus, the agency clarified that the new decade begins on January 1, 2021.

“Each decade begins in a year ending in 1 and ends in a year ending in 0; thus, the first decade of the 21st century goes from 2001 to 2010, the second from 2011 to 2020 and the third from 2021 to 2030,” they detailed.
