The Ethics Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and Deputies, agreed to sanction the MPs Giorgio Jackson of the Democratic Revolution, and the independent Pedro Velasquez.

Regarding Jackson, the decision was made in connection with the controversy that occurred in May this year, when he declared that he donated half of his salary.

Recall that the issue broke out after the deputy Renato Garín deny the statements of the parliamentarian, pointing out that the money is not donated, but rather is part of a collective system that will seek to finance political campaigns of the Democratic Revolution.

Regarding the case of Deputy Velásquez, he will be sanctioned for the threats –which were viralized on social networks– against a woman in Los Vilos.

The president of the Chamber’s Ethics Committee, the deputy RN Bernardo Berguer, He referred to the determination of the instance, noting that in both cases there are “actions founded” in the regulations.

The letter issued by the Ethics Committee states that “the deputy’s statements about the donation of half of his parliamentary allowance, in circumstances that it was a collective savings mechanism to finance future political campaigns, constituted a communication hoax where it would have implied an altruistic spirit that did not exist ”.

In this regard, the MP for the Broad Front defended himself. He indicated that the law establishes different terms, noting that the party makes “a quote.”

The parliamentarian announced that they will appeal the resolution, so the sanction that will be issued by the Chamber’s Ethics Commission could be revoked.

His party, through a public statement, expressed solidarity with Jackson, assuring that “this decision lacks any argument and technical basis, corroborating the Electoral Service itself that our accounts are in order and that all operations have been carried out within the framework of the law”.

“It seems to us absolute cowardice, that despite this antecedent and the recommendation of the Secretariat of the Ethics Commission not to apply sanctions in this case, deputies from Chile Vamos and the radical José Pérez have decided to approve a completely unjustified and artificial sanction ”They added.

Along these lines, they reminded the Penta, Corpesca and SQM cases, assuring that “we have clean hands. For this, we are certainly going to appeal to the commission ”.

The President of RD, Catalina Pérez, meanwhile, he pointed to a “crude and cowardly” political maneuver by the ruling party.

“Today they achieved their goal in the Ethics committee without having any argument. This is a crude and cowardly political maneuver by Chile Vamos ”, he declared.
