Deputies Pablo Vidal and Natalia Castillo resigned from the Democratic Revolution (RD), part of the Broad Front.
The resignations of the parliamentarians took place before the Electoral Service (Servel) in recent days, after the differences they held with the table led by deputy Catalina Pérezreported this Thursday The Third PM.
With these resignations, the DR bench was reduced from seven to five members and the FA -conglomerate that was installed in the National Congress with 20 deputies in 2017- was left with 15 legislators.
In October, Vidal and Castillo -deputies for the 8th and 10th districts, respectively- criticized the Broad Front’s decision not to participate in primaries along with the rest of the opposition with a view to the elections for mayors and governors, the evening said.
“Why am I making this decision? Unfortunately, the Democratic Revolution is on a path that I cannot travel“, said Vidal in a letter to the militancy.
“Today, it seems that the Democratic Revolution renounced the audacity and conviction to lead. I would like to believe that things can be different. I would like the RD to be determined to lead a transformative process of the center-left, along with social democratic, socialist, progressive, liberal, green and feminist visions, but the signs that the RD has preferred a path where a left pole is consolidated are varied and consistent classical, in a way where I believe that an identity of challenge and testimony is privileged, dancing to the rhythms of a music alien to those that inspired us in the beginning, “criticized the now former RD.
