Demonstrations in Plaza Baquedano generate traffic diversions and closure of access to Metro station

A group of protesters arrived this afternoon to the Plaza Italia sector in a new day of protests and two days after a 16-year-old boy fell over the Pío Nono Bridge after being pushed, according to the prosecution’s records, by the police officer Sebastián Zamora, who is in preventive detention as determined by the court.

The mobilization was responded to by the uniformed police with the operation of water launchers and gas launchers in the place.

According to the images from Galería Cima, the majority of people settled in the Plaza Baquedano and also cacerolazos were heard in the place.

Traffic, meanwhile, is interrupted at the site and Transantiago buses have had to divert their route. The Baquedano station is enabled only for combination, and the accesses to lines 1 and 5 are closed.

Minutes before, there was also a deviation in Alameda to the east by General Velásquez, due to incidents recorded in the vicinity of the Central Station.
