In its latest edition, the epidemiological report of the DEIS of the Ministry of Health reported a total of 16,688 deaths due to the covid-19 pandemic, adding the confirmed cases (12,254) and the suspects (4,434).
Likewise, the document indicated that the Metropolitan, Valparaíso, Bío Bío and Antofagasta regions are those that concentrate the highest rate of probable deaths in the country.
On the other hand, once again the Metropolitan region led the areas with the highest mortality with 98.15 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants, followed by the regions of Antofagasta (86.79) and Tarapacá (60.15).
In addition, it was noted that the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants, according to laboratory-confirmed cases, is led by the Metropolitan region (3,881.3), seconded by Magallanes (3,564.1) and Tarapacá (3,285, two).
Along these lines, it was noted that since the beginning of the pandemic in the country -and until September 17- there have been 499,842 cases of covid-19, of which 442,827 have laboratory confirmation and 57,015 probable without the respective confirmation.
Increase in Los Lagos and Aysén
This Saturday the Ministry of Health revealed a new balance on the advance of the pandemic in our country, a day in which the surprising increases in cases in the Los Lagos and Aysén regions.
In both territories, the record was set with the highest number of new infections so far in the pandemic. In the case of Aysén, they are 21 new positives. Los Lagos, meanwhile, added 199 cases and exceeded 8 thousand infected in total.
For comparison, Aysén scored 10.4 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, while they were 5.1 in the Metropolitan region.
Arica, with another 63 positives, and Atacama, with 84, also mark its highest regional figures of the week.
At the national level, there are 1,848 new cases. The Bío Bío remains above 200 infections a day, a threshold that has been able to go down in only 3 of the last 7 days.
