The Christian Democratic Party referred on Monday night to the conditions set by the Broad Front to sign pacts, in the face of the legal primaries to elect mayors and governors.
Through a statement, the party’s National Board indicated that the DC “has been clear in stating that it is the citizens themselves who elect the candidates.”
“This,” they explain, “because we have full conviction that it is the best way to rebuild a country project. (…) We reiterate our willingness to compete in the 16 regions and 345 communes of the country, as approved by the vast majority of our National Board on September 26 ”, they stated in the letter.

“Broad Front cannot impose”

“This situation seems artificial to us, because last February we proposed to work with them on a programmatic agreement and forms of rapprochement, and we had no response whatsoever,” they pointed out.
Likewise, they said they did not accept from the Broad Front “any veto to our candidates and candidates, and even less insults to prominent DC mayors such as Felipe Delpín de La Granja, Carmen Gloria Fernández, mayor of Quinta Normal (who is not going to re-election) and Marcelo Pereira de Coquimbo, alluding to events that have not provided a single antecedent ”.
