After the embarrassment of the registration of the lists for the primaries of governors and mayors, where the opposition was not able to register a unitary list, the Broad Front and the Christian Democrats turned the page and met today to address the need to move forward in common points with regard to the Constitutional Convention.

According to the president of the Christian Democracy, Fuad Chahin, it was “a good meeting”, and there were coincidences that “it is very important that the constituent process itself guarantees adequate citizen participation. Beyond the election of the conventioneers and the ratifying plebiscite, citizens must feel part of this process on an ongoing basis. And that is why we have agreed to work on the regulation so that it guarantees the principle of participation, always doing it from the Constituent Unit and dialoguing with all political forces ”.

In addition, the helmsman DC, warned that “in the same way I believe that the greatest possible unity for the conventional lists is essential to allow us to avoid a dispersion that ends up subsidizing the right. And finally, and the most relevant thing, is that we have to begin to agree on certain constitutional bases, because it is very important that in the content we are able to have the best agreement, which allows us to reach two-thirds ”.

The meeting was attended by Alondra Arellano, president of Social Convergence, Jorge Ramírez, president of Comunes, Luis Felipe Ramos, president of the Liberal Party, Juan Guerra of the Democratic Revolution, Julio Salas de Unir, and Fernando Atria of Fuerza Común.

According to the president of Comunes, Jorge Ramírez, these dialogues with different political and social forces seek to “articulate ourselves to face the constituent process that ensures all Chilean women and men are part of this historical process.”

“With the Christian Democrats we have agreed on the will to advance in this process and we hope that with the rest of the forces we will agree to be able to announce to Chile that we will work on the constituent regulations that allow participation, but above all, the world’s deliberation. social in the constituent process that we began on October 25 ”, said Ramírez regarding the meeting.

In turn, the president of Social Convergence, Alondra Arellano, said that “we do not want people to only participate, but to influence the Fundamental Charter that the country is going to have. In this process it is essential that we all participate, all of Chile must participate. We have seen good disposition ”.

For his part, Luis Felipe Ramos (PL) stated that “the meeting with the DC is the first of several meetings that as FA we will have with all the political and social and independent opposition, since through the broadest unity of all around common bases we will be able to achieve constitutional consensuses to specify the changes that citizens expect ”.
