“I, Daniella Campos, have been a victim of domestic violence, both physical and psychological for eight years,” says Daniella Campos in a video she shared this Friday on her Instagram.
The former Miss Chile posted the video more than a week after she and her husband, the engineer Esteban Caldentey, were arrested and formalized for domestic violence. Both have the precautionary measure of prohibition to approach while the investigation lasts and he had to leave the home in Chicureo that they shared with the five-year-old daughter of the marriage.

“I know that I have been absent for some time from my networks, from the press, despite the interest that the news that came out has aroused. Because I needed time to recover myself and my family, which today is my daughter.
“I want to start by telling you that I want to confirm the news that came out in the press. It’s hard for me to say what I’m saying today, it took me eight years to say it. I, Daniella Campos, have been a victim of domestic violence, both physical and psychological for eight years.
“It took me a long time to report him out of shame, for being a public person, for different reasons that perhaps the women or men who are listening to me will know what that means.
“I heard many times that marriage was difficult, I wanted to save it many times, because you get married for a family project, you dream of that family you want to form, you want to see your children grow up with your mom and dad.
“I understand the interest of the press regarding the issue, they called me to find out details of what had happened. I want to tell you that I cannot unfortunately give you details of my particular situation because there is a minor involved and we as parents must protect our children above all else. And this is in an investigative folder that is in the hands of justice today.
“But I want to face the issue, I want to ask you not to make the mistake I made, not to shut up, not to normalize situations, that nothing justifies not being happy, suffering abuse and playing happy family.
“I regret not having been honest enough to face the situation and have had to come to the nightmare that I had to live the last time, of which everyone witnessed through the press.”
Campos and Caldentey met on the 44-year-old former beauty queen’s birthday in 2012. A few days later they were living together and two months later they were married in Chicureo, in January 2013. In December 2015, their daughter Maite was born.
In October 2020 Campos suffered a new complication in his health. She had to be operated on for two tumors. Before entering the pavilion, in the Instagram space El Aperitivo explained “they are in both my eyes. The left tumor has already impacted the eyeball and is displacing it. So I am in a very particular situation ”.
The television figure had already undergone a series of surgeries due to hyperthyroidism. After the procedure last October, he spent a month in the ICU due to the chronic pain he was left with. He lost weight and continued with intense treatments at home.
In those days she also announced her candidacy for councilor for the Colina commune, as an independent supported by Evópoli.
Meanwhile, during the aforementioned interview in El Aperitivo she also referred to her husband:
“Esteban, my husband, yes. An important part of these eight years of marriage where he gave me everything that … I’m sentimental, so please don’t make me cry. But he gave me the biggest wish I had in life, which was to be a mom. He fought alongside me to be able to achieve it, he fought alongside me to be able to move Maite forward and he has been a brave man to be at the side of a person who had a hard time achieving stability in health ”.
