Young cyclist dies after being run over by public transport bus in Providencia
The 24-year-old victim was struck by machinery at the corner of Providencia and Holland avenues, dying at the site. This is the second death of a cyclist in two days.
Carabinieri confirmed the death of a young man who traveled by bicycle after being run over by a public transport bus, belonging to the RED system, in Providence.
According to the preliminary information provided by the institution to 24horas.cl, the victim was 24 years old and was hit by machinery at the intersection of Providencia avenues with Holland.
Likewise, it was indicated that the bus was traveling down Holland avenue heading south, colliding at the aforementioned intersection to the person.
Emergency personnel work at the scene of the event to determine the possible causes of the event.
The police are interviewing the bus driver, and his arrest is not ruled out to gather more information about what happened.
Remember that this is the second case of these characteristics in less than two days, because last Tuesday a cyclist, identified as James Fuentes, died in Maipú after being run over.
