Cristian Garín (22nd ATP) addressed his present and future for the next season. The national tennis player changed his coach and Franco Davin took the place of Andrés Schneiter as the Chilean’s coach.

“The tennis career is not that long and I felt that I was not learning; that things were not being done as perhaps I would have liked and obviously I transmitted that to Andrés. Now I am with a team that gives me peace of mind. I always wanted to have a team like this ”, Gago said to La Tercera.

Regarding Schneiter’s departure, he assured that relations were “Good of me. I saw some of his statements, I did not understand why he commented that I did not tell him anything. I did contact him and thanked him for everything. The truth is that I did not understand why he said that. But I’m calm, I felt that it was a stage that was over, that I was not improving … I felt that way and I did. The career in tennis is not very long and my priority is always to keep learning and improving ”.

“The truth is that I’m very good with Franco. From the first day I feel that I am learning and that he is eager. He is someone who is super nice to share. I see him very motivated to teach me and I am with a good predisposition. I feel that I had a lot to improve, it is leading me on the right path and it motivates me a lot to learn, more than anything ”, added.

He continued to complement: “I think this year was very strange in terms of competitions and I do not do any evaluation, because it was super strange. And now I think that with this new beginning I am really looking forward to it. I am sure that I am going to face it very differently from the return to the circuit after the pandemic, because when I stopped I was at my best.

Finally, he had words for the return of Nicolás Jarry, who ended the 11-month sanction for the controversial case of positive doping.

“I am happy for him. I watched the first set a bit and then I went to train. It shouldn’t be easy for him to come back, he’s going to need a lot of games to get a rhythm. We all know the level he played and the ranking he reached. It should not be easy. I just wish him the best and hopefully he can add games, because it is key to get back to the rhythm of the competition ”, sentenced.
