The national tennis player Christian garin (22nd ATP) commented on the change of coach for his career and assured that he decided to do without Andres Schneiter feeling that he was not advancing in his game.
At present, the first national racket is in the hands of the also Argentine Frank davin, who has served as a coach for figures on the circuit such as his compatriots Juan Martín del Potro -with whom he won the US Open-, Guillermo Coria and Gastón Gaudio -winner of Roland Garros-, as well as the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, among others.
Asked about the change of coach, the ‘Tank’ declared to La Tercera that “the tennis career is not that long and I felt like I wasn’t learning; that things were not being done as perhaps I would have liked and obviously I transmitted that to Andrés. Now I am with a team that gives me peace of mind … I always wanted to have a team like that ”.
In addition, the Arican clarified that the relationship with Schneiter ended “well. For my part, fine. I did not understand – because I saw some statements that he made – why he commented that I did not tell him anything. Because I did contact him and thanked him for everything. And the truth is that I did not understand why he said that ”.
“But I’m calm, I felt that it was a stage that was over, that I was not improving… I felt that way and I did. The tennis career is not very long and my priority is always to keep learning and improving ”, he added.
Regarding the work with Davin, Garin said “the truth is that very well with Franco. From day one, I feel like I’m learning and that he’s really looking forward to it. He is someone who is super nice to share. I see him very motivated to teach me and I am with a good predisposition. I feel like I had a lot to improve, it is leading me on the right path and it motivates me a lot to learn, more than anything ”.
As for Nicolás Jarry’s return to the circuit, the 24-year-old tennis player said that “I am happy for him. I watched the first set a bit and then I went to train. It shouldn’t be easy for him to come back, he’s going to need a lot of games to get a rhythm. We all know the level he played and the ranking he reached. It should not be easy. Just wish him the best and hopefully he can add games, because it is key to get back to the rhythm of the competition ”.
Finally, Garin avoided taking stock of the year 2020 by indicating that “it was very strange in terms of competitions.”
