The National Statistics Institute (INE) reported this Friday that in October the Consumer Price Index (CPI) recorded a monthly variation of 0.7%, accumulating 2.8% so far this year and a twelve-month rise of 3.0%.
In the tenth month of the year, eight of the twelve divisions that make up the CPI basket had positive impacts on the monthly variation of the index, three had negative impacts and one had no impact.
Among the divisions with increases in their prices, he highlighted food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.6%) with 0.119 percentage points (pp.) and clothing and footwear (3.6%) with 0.118 pp.
What went down and what went up in price?
The INE detailed that in the food and non-alcoholic beverages division the most important monthly increases were meats (1.5%); and vegetables, legumes and tubers (1.9%).
The most important increases in products were registered by the tomato (10.0%) and beef (2.0%).
There were also increases in clothing (4.2%) and shoes and other footwear (2.6%). For example, the most notable price increases were recorded by long and short pants for men (8.8%), followed by shoes for men (4.2%).
The division “Health” registered declines monthly in three of its seven classes.
The most important was pharmaceutical products (-0.4%), followed by dental services (-0.1%).
“Of the 22 products that make up the division, six recorded decreases in their prices, highlighting medications for the central nervous system (-4.3%) and non-corticosteroid anti-inflammatory, anti-migraine and musculoskeletal system medications (-2.3%) “, said the INE in its report.
Other products
-Financial expense: presented a monthly increase of 69.4%. It accumulated 4.0% at the tenth month of the year and 3.9% at twelve months.
-New car: posted a 2.1% monthly increase.
-Common expenditure: registered a monthly rise of 3.6%, with 0.045pp., accumulating -1.7% so far this year and -4.6% at twelve months.
-Rent: recorded a monthly variation of 0.8%, accumulating 3.1% so far this year and 3.5% at twelve months.
-Transport service by interurban bus: had a monthly decrease of 12.3%, with an incidence of -0.062pp., registering a variation of -15.4% so far this year and -7.9% at twelve months.
-Cheese: it registered a monthly decrease of 2.5%, accumulating 4.1% so far this year and 5.4% in twelve months.
