The top 10 of the communes with the most patients capable of spreading the virus were once again led by the capitals of Magallanes and the Bío Bío. Far from retreating in Punta Arenas, and on the eve of National Holidays, the pandemic continues its advance.
Punta Arenas and Concepción once again lead the communes with the most active cases of coronavirus nationwide, according to the latest Epidemiological Report released this Saturday by the Ministry of Health.
The capital of Magellan is already registering its second wave of infections, which according to experts could be the same or even worse than the one registered four months ago.
Just Punta Arenas was positioned (again) as the commune that accumulates the highest number of patients who can infect others with the virus, with 1,026.
Further back appears Concepción (578), whose mayor, Sergio Giacaman, recently became involved in a controversy with the Executive, after he asked the Minister of Health, Enrique París, to review the situation in the Bío Bío region, with a view to the National Holidays.
It was the health authority itself, together with the government spokesman, Jaime Bellolio, who swept the request from the local representative.
“He is going to rectify his sayings,” they said at a press conference, something to which the mayor refused.
Both communes are followed by Puente Alto (551), Arica (529) and Antofagasta (507).
