Covid-19 patient escaped twice from La Serena Hospital

A patient escaped from the San Juan de Dios Hospital in La Serena on Thursday afternoon, as confirmed at night from the health facility.

As detailed through a public statement, it is a 47-year-old man positive to COVID-19 and with underlying pathology.

In the first instance, the subject was transferred back to the hospital by SAMU personnel, however, while the area was being disinfected, he escaped again.

“Instantly, a group of officials went looking for him and when they found him, they were attacked by the user, who suffered a decompensation. Later, the patient managed to flee”, being intensely searched by the military and police forces.

The workers involved were admitted to the Emergency Unit of the compound, to initiate the corresponding protocols due to the risk of exposure.

“The San Juan de Dios Hospital in La Serena deeply regrets the events that have occurred and, as a public health institution, is carrying out all the pertinent investigations and actions so that events like this do not have a place in the healthcare facility,” they concluded.

According to information gathered by El Día, the person had arrived by his means back to the Hospital at night.
