The Council of Presidents of the ANFP, in session held this Friday, approved the modification of the bases and the champion of the Second Division 2021 will be promoted directly to First B, without playing a playoff.

According to the ANFP itself in its social networks, 42 clubs voted in favor of direct promotion to the Second Division. Two rejected the proposal, three abstained and one did not vote.

With this resolution, most likely, Sifup will lift the footballer strikes, allowing the Super Cup to be played this Sunday, between Colo Colo and Universidad Católica, and the start of the 2021 Championship next week.

The Weighted Table Returns

According to the new rules, the First B Championship will have two standings, one normal and one weighted, to find the balance of teams, although this will only take place in 2022.

This year there will be a “Absolute Table 2021“, which will count only the points obtained during this season in the First B. The last place in this classification will go down to Second Division.

In parallel, there will be a “Table of Averages 2021-2022”, which will count the Championships this year and next.

Thus, in 2022 there will be two declines: The last one in the Absolute Table and the bottom one in the Average Table.

In case the last team is the same in both tables, the penultimate of the weighted table will go down.

“In turn, a team will be promoted directly from Second Division to First B at the end of the 2021 Season and another at the end of the 2022 Season“, closes article 86 of the ANFP.
