Until October 15, according to the latest epidemiological report of the Minsalse, 553,156 cases of covid-19 have been registered (488,190 with laboratory confirmation and 64,966 probable, without laboratory confirmation), with a rate of 2,842.8 per 100,000 inhabitants. This rate is the cumulative incidence, that is, the total number of diagnosed cases (confirmed and probable) from March 3, the date of the first case, to the date of issuance of this report. It does not represent the current incidence rate, nor the number of people still in the stage of generating possible infections.

The highest cumulative incidence rates per 100,000 inhabitants, according to laboratory-confirmed cases, are found in the Magallanes Region (6,620.2), the Metropolitan Region (4,030.1) and the Arica and Parinacota Region (3,718.2).

Of the confirmed and probable reported cases in Epivigila, the median age is 38 years, where 6.23% corresponds to persons under 15 years of age, 24.25% to persons aged 15-29 years, and 29.74% to people 30-44 years old, 28.82% to people 45-64 years old, while the remaining 10.93% to adults 65 and over.

As for active cases, these are 16,297, with the Punta Arenas commune registering the highest number, with 865.
