Coquimbo smiles again and confirms Colo Colo as absolute bottom

November 18 was the last victory for Coquimbo Unido in the National Tournament. After that 2-1 against Universidad Católica, the pirates added four defeats and a draw, an ominous run that sent them straight to the penultimate place in the standings. But those led by Juan José Ribera smiled again. A single goal from Lautaro Palacios at 22 ‘sealed the victory against Huachipato in the CAP and extended the difference in points with Colo Colo, who no matter what he does, will be bottom of the championship for one more day.

Without their best players as starters – Farfán and Abrigo started on the bench – the Coquimbanos managed to beat a team at home that fights for international spots. They were not lacking in help: at 68 ′ Cristian Cuevas was sent off with a rude and unintelligible elbow, which complicated any steel attempt to tie the game.

Despite the extra man, Coquimbo delayed the lines and allowed Florentín’s pupils to press to find parity. In the last minute of the game they almost achieved their goal with a header from Rodríguez, but the shot went to the crossbar.
