The president of the Communist Party, Guilliermo Teillier, spoke about the controversy between the deputy of his community, Hugo Gutiérrez, with the Navy, which he described as an “illicit terrorist association” and “genocidal”.

Teillier indicated that he has not personally discussed the situation with Gutiérrez, because the deputy for Iquique fears that his telephone could be tapped, because they assure the Navy handles the intelligence services in Chile.

“I have not spoken well with Hugo Gutiérrez, as a journalist there told me, I am a little afraid to talk to him on the phone, how the army has announced complaints and how the intelligence services are acting (…) it is not so difficult that even one of them gets the phone tapped “, he expressed.

The PC helmsman stated that “You can use telephone conversations against Hugo in a trial”, but that he considers that both parties should prepare for an eventual trial and that “it would have to be demonstrated whether or not the Navy is what Hugo Gutiérrez says.”

For her part, the deputy Camila Vallejo said that it will be necessary to prepare for a new process with which they will seek to remove Gutiérrez.

The controversy originated after in a Facebook transmission, Gutiérrez described the Navy as an “illicit association” and that it has killed “more Chileans than in the wars they have had to face”, when asked about the corporal that he was arrested for disorders in Santiago last Sunday, October 18.

“That army (…) is an illicit terrorist association that at some point would have to be dissolved because truly, I believe that this Navy has killed more Chileans than in the wars they have had to face,” he said.

These words did not go down well with either the Navy or the Defense Ministry, which announced that they will evaluate legal actions against the communist deputy, who has already been taken to the ethics commission of the Chamber of Deputies.
