The Ministry of Health reported 2,564 new coronavirus infections this Saturday, a figure that exceeds that registered yesterday Friday and is at the highest in more than 5 months, since July 17, when 2,840 were recorded on that occasion.
In this way, there are already 598,394 total cases in the country, 14,275 of them are known “active”, that is, with the capacity to infect.
The Minister of Health, Enrique Paris, indicated that they have “great concern about the increase in cases. In the Metropolitan region in the last 14 days it reaches a 39% increase. If we continue to have crowds, not respecting the curfew with clandestine parties, if the youth do not worry about protecting their elderly, the cases will continue to increase ”.
“We must reinforce the measures: mask, hand washing, physical distancing. How many times have we said it. The Health team has always asked for it, with humility, please respect the sanitary measures. We understand that Chileans are tired of this long process. The restrictions are sometimes very harsh. We understand the complaints of the population, commerce and tourism. But we look after the health of the inhabitants ”, stressed Paris.
On this day, another 46 deaths were added to the registry, so 16,404 people have died with clinical confirmation of the coronavirus disease.
At present, there are 700 covid patients in ICU, 546 of them in ventilation and 64 in critical condition. There are 275 ventilators available in the integrated health network.
According to the Undersecretary of Healthcare Networks, Alberto Dougnac, we are still “quite far” from what happened in the first wave, and that “the scenario is different”, highlighting that there is now Active Case Search, with a greater detection of asymptomatic patients .
